FACTS ABOUT ARKANSAS'S WATER:
IT IS ESTIMATED THAT AN AVERAGE OF 280 BILLION GALLONS OF WATER FLOW THROUGH ARKANSAS RIVERS AND STREAMS EVERY DAY.
ARKANSAS'S AVERAGE ANNUAL PRECIPITATION IN ARKANSAS IS 49.2 INCHES. MAMMOTH SPRING, IN FULTON COUNTY, HAS A MAXIMUM FLOW OF 9 MILLION GALLONS PER HOUR, INTO THE SPRING RIVER.
THERE ARE 12 MAJOR AQLUIFERS USED FOR WATER SUPPLY IN ARKANSAS!
The Baxter County Conservation District is a unit of State and County government that was organized by local people for the purpose of development and carrying out programs for the conservation of soil, water and other natural resources within the county.  We are not an agency of any Federal department!  The NRCS is one of the federal agencies that help fund programs as they work closely and Cooperate with the Baxter County Conservation District.  The Baxter County Conservation District and the NRCS share common offices and goals.  Information and technical assistance is available to all land users on planning, proper use of the soil, soils information, soil and water engineering work and plant guides.
